The

Club
meets
at
the
Johnsonville
Community
Centre,
located
on
the
corner
of
Moorfield
Road
and
Frankmoore
Ave,
Johnsonville
the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m.
Meetings are run to a fairly
tight schedule in order to stop any one aspect becoming
too long and boring whilst at the same time we offer a variety
of topics on any one night in order to cater for various
interests. We aim to complete the formalities
each night by 9.15 p.m. as we recognise members like to
meet and socialise over a 'cuppa', which is virtually as
important as the earlier part of the proceedings.
Two
Annual Competitions are held in October and April each year,
for which a Trophy is awarded and retained by the Winner.
Recently the Club purchased
a set of up to date Professionally made training tapes from
Britain to use on Club nights as part of our instructional
portion of our activities. These tapes are also
made available to members free of charge, providing they are
paid up financially.
We tend to be a fairly
typical Club in that we are at the older end of the age scale
and have more men than women. We would like
to encourage more women and younger people to join.
We would also encourage people who do not have any equipment
yet to join BEFORE outlaying any money as often enthusiastic
people come along after making a purchase only to find that
it's not really what they wanted. An 8mm camera
is available at $5.00 per week for those who don't have a
camera and would like to be able to accomplish something until
they make that purchase.
Our members range from
beginners with basic equipment to others who have considerable
experience and knowledge with both digital cameras and the
various computer editing systems presently on the market. These
experienced members are only too willing to pass on independant
advice, as no financial gain is involved, in relation to equipment
which potentially new members may want.
